忍法、柔術、古武道の真実と実技を教伝する玄武館世界忍法武芸連盟（本部＝埼玉県北葛飾郡）が10月26日～11月5日、伊勢志摩ロイヤルホテル（志摩市磯部町的矢、TEL 0599-55-2111）を会場に、「玄武館世界忍法武芸大会」を開催している。

　同連盟は世界115カ所に支部道場と約1万人の門人を擁し、同連盟会長の種村匠刀（しょうとう）宗家により1984年に設立された世界的組織。真の「忍びの者」の集団修行所で、日本の伝統的武道文化である忍法武芸三十六型（武芸十八般と忍者十八形）を中心とした指導を通じて心と身体を鍛錬すること、一流一派にこだわらず武道全般に渡り真の日本の忍びの法と武道芸術を普遍的・実践的に研究保存・発展させることを目的としている。

　今回の世界大会はアメリカ、カナダ、メキシコ、イギリスなど世界13カ国から約200人の門下生が、種村宗家の還暦記念に合わせて開催するもの。10月27日～29日は一般大会として忍法体術、国際柔術、古流唐手、護身術、中国拳法、各流派ごとの忍術などの実技指導、11月1日～5日は特別指導者講習として指導者向けの専門的術技と講義、試験などを予定している。

　種村宗家は「忍者というと『ドロンパッ』というような映画でのイメージがどうしても先行してしまうが、本来、忍法は護身術。真の忍者は花の様な心を持ち、平和を愛し、忍法の極意を生かし、家族・国や世界のためにあらゆる手を尽くし、平和を守るもの」と話している。

　イスラエル出身でテルアビブ大学の助教授で東京大学でも講師も務めた経験のある指導者のロイ・ロンさんは「現代武道は強くなること、相手を倒すことが表に出過ぎてスポーツ化している。日本古来の忍法、古武道を極めていくと精神修行になり、心が強く、大きくなる。現代人が忘れているものがここにある」と話す。

　一行は10月26日、奈良・橿原神宮、東大寺、最後の忍者といわれる高松壽嗣（としつぐ）氏の墓参を行い、30日には伊勢神宮、伊賀忍者屋敷、伊賀上野城、31日は京都など忍者のルーツも見学する予定。

Worldwide Ninpo Bugei Conference in Shima

Genbukan World Ninpo Bugei Federation is holding its Worldwide Ninpo Bugei Conference from October 26 through November 5th at Ise-Shima Royal Hotel in Isobe-cho, Shima City.

Genbukan World Ninpo Bugei Federation was established in November 1984 by Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura of Matsubishi Japan. It currently has 115 ashrams (dojos) and over 10,000 students worldwide. Their purpose is to maintain the integrity of the ancient Ninja tradition. The Genbukan is dedicated to the factual portrayal and teaching of the Ninja Arts in a traditional Japanese manner.

During the conference, about 200 students from 13 different countries will participate in the events. Various general classes will be offered from October 27th through October 29th and specialized training classes and exams for instructor-level students are offered from November 1st through November 5th.

Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura believes that the “Ninja” has an image of a magician, however, the truth is that a Ninja is a master of the art of self-defense. The Ninja is someone who is generous and lives for world peace, the defense of their family, their country and the world through mastering their skills.

The World Ninpo Bugei Federation is also planning to visit historical places in Nara, Ise, Iga and Kyoto, all of which have ties to Ninja culture in Japan.
